Patricia is a native Chicagoan who is now a proud Northwest settler. She studied art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and after graduation went on to a career as an Art Director. She's still working in the ad industry, but in the last several years she's been exploring painting again, and has found joy in rediscovering art.
Patricia's current work is exploring emotion through the lens of nature. Nature can really capture all our moods: joy, anger, love and exuberance. The process begins with exploring and hiking locally; sketching and taking photos, and seeing what feelings might arise. Then the process moves to the studio for more sketching to refine the composition and the light and shadow, painting and then painting some more.
In the last several years, Patricia has shown her work at
Cafe Senso in Seattle and at local art walks on Bainbridge Island and Poulsbo. She has been a juror for the Bainbridge Island Studio Tour and was chosen to have her artwork featured at the BPA (Bainbridge Performing Arts) for a 2019 First Friday Art Walk.
She was also part of a group show Autumn Surprises at the Island Gallery, where she had two of her larger watercolors on display for the month of October, 2018. She took a break from showing work for the past few years and has created new work and some limited-edition archival prints. She recently hosted a First Friday Art Walk @ Windermere Bainbridge and will be hosting an Art Walk @ Realogics Sotheby’s Friday February 3, 2023.
